Looking back over my personal journey in 2017

Anna Campbell graduate magna cum laude with BA Communication degree from NC State University2017 was filled with adventure, trauma, excitement, and many deepened relationships in my life.

My adventures this year included travelling all over North Carolina from Wilmington, Raleigh, Asheville, Salisbury, Fort Fisher, Top Sail, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, Fuquay-Varina, and many more beautiful places. I also had the opportunity to attend the B Corp Academic Roundtable in Toronto, Canada during the B Corp Best for the World retreat and attend the Net Impact conference in Atlanta, Ga.

I would love to hear about the adventures you went on this past year.

Opportunities for Growth

My trauma involved recovering from spinal surgery, learning how to walk again, and losing a very dear woman in my life.

Did you experience any trauma over the past year? How are you doing?

My excitement was moving to our condo in Wilmington, ushering off our beautiful daughter to college, and personally graduating with my BA in Communication from North Carolina State University (NC State).

What exciting things happened during 2017 for you?

Deeper relationships were made this past year. We were fortunate to spend several weeks at the beach with loved ones during our transition after selling our home in Fuquay-Varina and finding a new home in Wilmington.

And I was reminded over and over again during the past 5 months how powerful friendships can be. My dear friends opened their home to me during the week so I could stay in the Raleigh area while finishing my final semester at NC State. Their love and hospitality gave me the time, space, and peace of mind I needed in order to earn all A’s and graduate as Magna Cum Laude with a 3.74 GPA.

Thinking back over the past year, which relationships were you able to cultivate and make deeper? Do you have any memories you would like to share?

Deeper Understanding

Over this past year I have learned to be more gentle, less critical, more open-minded, less scared, and more patient.

My boss, Jessica Thomas, helped me remember who I am and who I want to be. She empowered me, which helped me let go of fear and embrace my true potential. It has truly been an honor to work with her and all of my fellow students at the Business Sustainability Collaborative at NC State.

Has someone helped you look at your life differently over the past year?

It is with some sadness that I close the book on 2017. But it is with even more joy that I open 2018!  I would love to hear about how your past year went and what you are looking forward to in 2018.

Love you,
